By 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. Landfill should be a thing of the past just like disposable plastics. Composting and recycling more can help residents, businesses, and city governments save money, conserve natural resources, and protect our climate. San Francisco has already set up a North American record for recycling and composting, but we need your help to reach zero waste! We are striving to make our Bastille Day Festival a zero-waste and low single-use plastic day and we need every participant's help to achieve our goal!

Our Bastille Day Festival falls right in the middle of "Plastic Free July". It is a worldwide movement, originating in Western Australia in 2011. The goal of "Plastic Free July" is to encourage people to be more aware of their disposable plastics use. This involves supporting behavior change and helping others #choosetorefuse shopping bags, straws, takeaway containers, and coffee cups. Learn more here and lets take on the challenge together!
